Palomar Mountain
Palomar Mountain Palomar Mountain is the local mountain in San Diego County if you want to get some serious climbing in. It is an Hors Categorie (HC) or above category climb by Tour de France standards. By definition HC climbs are ...the longest, steepest mountain climbs. Extremely difficult, sometimes 15km to 20km, with grades often exceeding 10 percent. It is one of my favorite mountains to train on. I can do repeats on it yes Palomar repeats. If you are getting ready for Everest Challenge or any climbing event then Palomar Mountain is the place. The stats on Palomar Mountain from the store: Length of climb: 11.6 miles 18.67 km Avg grade: 6.2% 6.2% (includes two flatter sections) Begining Altitude: 1095 feet 33.76 meters Ending Altitude: 5250 feet 1600.20 meters Elevation Gain: 4155 feet 1266.44 meters Only 2500 feet Thank goodness rain Only 1250 feet of climbing left cooled off the day of climbing left Almost there . . .
