Finish Line Named for the famous Race Across America (RAAM) that stretches from the Pacific to the Atlantic, the C2C pays tribute to the all those sleep- deprived roadies that push themselves to the limits in adverse conditions through all hours of the day. Tinker placed 3rd at the 2006 RAAM, an accomplishment that many riders train their entire careers to achieve. And he did it riding the C2C. Tinker and Kenda partnered to design the C2C with a 125 PSI rating and Dual Tread Compound to provide less rolling resistance than conventional rubber, but still retain cornering grip. Iron Cloak construction built into the casing runs from bead to bead for flat prevention and hassle free performance. Dual Tread Compound (DTC) for better grip in corners and faster straight line speed High 125 PSI rating for faster speeds Basket weave side pattern for added grip while turning and cornering They taste like Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches. All packaged up for easy toting on your next ride. I love them for pre-race, during and post- race. I even snack on them in the middle of the night. I ride Cervelo Bikes because I truly believe they are the best engineered and best riding bikes in the world. I used RedStar Energy on Race Across America. As you would imagine multiple days without sleeping while racing can put a toll on your body. I was able to regain alertness and mental focus after taking just two chewables. BUT, even more important is if I took numerous tablets I didn't get an upset stomach. Try drinking four Red Bulls or Rockstars and then try to ride a bike. I won't test that but I can tell you that you would be bloated and ineffective on the first hill climb!! From their website... "RedStar Energy is great way to get your “boost” without that “wired” or “jittery” effect usually associated with energy drinks or too much caffeine. That’s because RedStar Energy is scientifically engineered with amino acids and vitamins to let your mind and body achieve greater alertness and that “get-up-and-go” feeling without large blasts of sugar or caffeine. So, as we like to say, “Keep the boost…kick the can.” I used Sportquest products on Furnace Creek 508 2007. I felt consistent energy throughout the event. The low osmolality and ease of digestion is key during intense efforts. I used Carbopro 1200 as my primary fuel and supplemented with Vantage Vo2, Recover Amino Power and Thermolytes for my electrolytes. I have used all these products in the past and trust their quality and efficacy. THANK YOU G.R. FOR YOU SUPPORT!!! Woolistic makes the best wool clothing I have ever used. It looks great functions great and it is different than the run of the mill synthetic clothing everyone else wears. When you are climbing it breathes well, when you descend you don't get chilled and if you want to "hang out" after your ride you will look great. Believe it or not wool will not retain odors so you don't have to worry about sinking up the joint!!! WEBSITE: http://www.vintagevelos.com/clothing1.html If you are looking for a high quality well built fixed gear bike you might find Milwaukee Bicycle Co. a good option. I RACED A MILWAUKEE IN "THE TOUGHEST 48 HOURS IN SPORT" the Furnace Creek 508. That's 508 miles and 35,000 feet of climbing through Death Valley and some of the worst road conditions imaginable. Milwaukees are made by Waterford but branded Milwaukee. They are round tube, steel frames, with road geometry and horizontal dropouts-- that's not that common. The frames have a slight slope to the top tube but otherwise have a very classic look to them. Ben's Cycle is the exclusive retailer and they are open to custom options such as, but not limited to: paint, decals, brazed-on badging, and components. Give them a call and tell them I sent you!!! From their website: We do our best product research scaling the Tetons, crossing the Grand Canyon or clinging to a sub-6 minute pace 20 miles into a marathon- because what needs to be improved often becomes clear only under extreme conditions. In fact, nearly all of our best ideas for new products hit us when we're training for, or competing in, trail hundred-milers, epic mountain bike rides, adventure races, and triathlons. Every race, ride or run is an experiment in redefi ning the very notion of "humanly possible" that requires not just the heart of an athlete, but also the mind of a scientist. Nite Rider lighting systems are the best lighting systems available. They have a wide range of lights to fit just about every application from mountain biking, commuting and Ultra Cycling. I strongly recommend you evaluate which light is right for you!! I use the Moab when I need the absolute longest burn time and the brightest HID light. I also you the MiNewt series for commuting and for Double Centuries and unsupported Brevets when light weight and bright headlights are required. Great News....Showers Pass has come onboard to help support me for 2008 season. From their website: "The best windproof-waterproof cycling gear anywhere! I will be using the Speedfil hydration system on my 2008 Furnace Creek 508 race. I have been using the Speefil for my training miles on my Cervelo P3C. I opted for it because one bottle carries 40 oz of fluids and the Cervelo P3C only has on bottle cage mount. It is the equivalent of two small water bottles. I can't stand to have the bottles behind the seat nor do I like the bottle in front of the bike between the aerobars. Both of those less desirable positions cause the bike to be top heavy and unstable not to mention inconvenience and mess of splashing. Please consider this hydration system as your first choice for your TT or Triathlon bike!!!!! Aerodynamic – Wind tunnel developed Easily refillable on the fly 40oz. + fluid capacity Frame Mounted* to optimize handling and minimize drag Exclusive dual splash resistant design Hands free drinking Bite valve holds fluid at the ready Less weight and clutter than multiple bottles Team Velosport is Orange County's largest cycling club. Accelerade was my primary fuel on Race Across America. RAAM is a considered the toughest bicycle race in the world. In 2007 I completed RAAM as a member of a 2 person team. I use Accelerade and Endurox for training and for racing. The flavors are great and quite refreshing on hot days. But more importantly I use Accelerade because it is one of the only endurance drinks that contains protein. After about four hours your body needs protein so as not to "eat" into your lean muscle and also to help in the glycogen synthesis. Use the following link to take advantage of 25% off Accelerade drink, and gels and Endurox. http://www.accelsport.com/epictraining Also view this video for their new ready to drink product. http://www.accelsport.com/commercial-videos.html |
