Rides 30-40 miles continued

For a quick ride off the coast with a little climbing I recommend going on this ride. The directions are easy. There are only three turns on this ride- and one of them is the u-turn at the top of the hill. You start on the coast, going South and then head East on Lomas Santa Fe through Rancho Santa Fe. You have rolling terrain through Rancho Santa Fe and then a ladder type climb on Del Dios Hwy. Once you reach the top of the climb at Citracado Pkwy make a U-Turn and follow the route in reverse.

THIS IS THE PREMIER RIDE IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY IF YOU ARE A ROADIE WITH ASPIRATIONS OF RACING. Pro cyclists and pro triathletes join in the foray through Elfin Forest. If you are looking for an anaerobic workout this the one. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS RIDE. YOU MUST HAVE EXCELLENT ROAD BIKE HANDLING SKILLS. Be ready to bang elbows with some of San Diego's fastest cyclists. Of course, you could do this ride with a few friends and not have to ride at redline.
Starting at the Lumberyard in Encinitas go North on the coast, Right on La Costa Avenue, Right on El Camino Real, Left on Levante, Left on La Costa, Left on Rancho Sante Fe Road, Right on San Elijo Road, Right on Elfin Forest to the "church" and back to the coast on Del Dios Hwy and Lomas Santa Fe.

For a little twist on things how about doing the famous Swami's loop in reverse? I find that it is more challenging and depending on the day of the week and the time of day there is less traffic because you are going opposite of the flow.
